I’m still processing the psilocybin journey from last weekend and wanted to see if I could gather some of my thoughts here. Because a lot of this is very personal, I’m going to put this one behind a paywall. For those of you who I’ll see in person, I’m glad to share the details of this experience when we’re together next in the same time and place.
Before I tell you what happened to me, let me recommend some resources if you’d like to learn more about what’s happening in the world of psychedelic research and related cultural transformation. The Psychedelic Podcast by Third Wave is quite good and covers a lot of different substances with a variety of guests. This episode is especially good, features Paul Stamets & Pamela Kryskow. Toward the very end of that episode is a teeny-tiny conversation about race when Stamets brings up trying to warn his Black, hoody-wearing grandson about the police. Paul Stamets, a mycologist, is one of the people who has been on every microphone he can find telling people about the transformative power of mushrooms, and he has a bunch of videos online, including this one from SXSW in 2023. Dr. Matthew Johnson, professor at Johns Hopkins University, is a leading researcher in the field, and this long interview with him is an engaging tour through the scientific research.
Ok, so here’s what happened to me last weekend.
